Saturday, June 22 (11AM) - Summer Picnic Meeting at Cape May Park Zoo, pavilion #9. Points of interest: Admission to the Zoo FREE; after the meeting visit all the sights the Cape May area has to offer – Concrete ship, Cape May Lighthouse, Boardwalk, Trolley tours, Horse & Buggy tours, Bird watching, museums, etc. Come out for a great, relaxing day at Cool Cape May. “Brown Bag Lunch” Bring your own!

July:

Saturday the 20th, 4PM – The 4 hour cruise to Ship John Shoal and points north leaving from NJ State Marina (Higbee’s ) in Fortescue, NJ (Once known as “The Weakfish Capital of the World”) – for further information see “Cruise News” Spring edition or call (609) 884-1329

The cost for the cruises is $45 for adults and $20 for children 5 - 12 years of age. Passengers must be at the dock at least one half hour before departure time. Lighthouses visited are: Miah Maull, Cross Ledge, Elbow of Cross Ledge, Fourteen Foot Bank and either Brandywine or Ship John. Harbor of Refuge is included in the 5 hour cruise on August 3. You are asked to bring bug spray (just in case), a jacket and a box lunch if you wish. Soda and water are provided.

Did you know that there are lighthouses out IN the Delaware Bay? Have you ever seen the sun set on the Bay? The water looks like liquid gold. Perfect photo ops!! The Delaware Bay Lighthouse Keepers & Friends Association offers the opportunity to view all of this plus learn the background of the lighthouses and the history of the Bay. Come, cruise with us. This year two old fashioned Saturday night cruises are planned: a sunset cruise on Saturday, July 20 and a moonlight cruise on August 3. The July 20 4 hour cruise will go to Ship John Shoal light and points north in the Bay while the August 3 5 hour cruise will go to Harbor of Refuge Light and south in the Bay. Lighthouses visited are: Miah Maull, Cross Ledge, Elbow of Cross Ledge, Fourteen Foot Bank and either Brandywine or Ship John. Harbor of Refuge Light will be visited on the August 3 cruise.

Both cruises leave from NJ State Marina (Higbee’s slip #5) in Fortescue, NJ (the “Weakfish Capitol of the World”) aboard the US Coast Guard approved Bonanza II. You are asked to be at the dock at least one half hour before the departure time of 4 PM. Besides the beautiful, relaxing scenic cruise, you can learn the background of each lighthouse and the history of the Delaware Bay. The cruises are narrated by former members of the US Coast Guard.
